The first annual WNY Wounded Veterans Fishing Tournament took place today on Lake Erie, launching out of the small boat harbor in Buffalo at 9am today. A fleet of volunteer charter captains provided licensed fishing boats and plenty of fishing expertise.

The idea behind this event was to help our wounded veterans here in Western New York and to say "Thank You" for the wonderful job they have done keeping our country free for you and me. A big thank you to SGT. Ben LaDuca for inviting me to join the veterans today. Although I could not be there in person, I was there in spirit today.

If you are a regular listener to my midday show on WYRK, then you know how much I appreciate the troops. We try to play a lot of songs for them on Noon Tunes and I also try to remind people to please keep our soldiers in your thoughts and prayers every day. Our soldiers are the REAL heroes of this nation. They deserve much more than what we give them. If you happen to see a soldier, please take the time to tell them "Thank You" for their service. God Bless Our Troops and our Veterans!
