I know a few people who ride the bus or train to and from work and they’ve been concerned about route cuts and a rate hike.  Well a decision has been made and a fare hike is the conclusion.  The NFTA Commissioners unanimously approved a 25 cent rate hike.  The Occupy Buffalo protester are screaming foul and most riders aren’t happy with the hike but prefer it over drastic cuts in services and routes.

Starting in May the day pass goes up from $4 to $5, the monthly pass from $64 to $75 and the Para transit for disabled riders will increase from $3.50 to $4 per trip.  The NFTA is also offering a new weekly pass for $25 that will give riders seven days of unlimited use.  Will this cause a drop in NFTA users?  That will remain to be seen.
