I had a chance to run the 3 miler that kicked off the weekend events at St John Vianney Lawn Fete. What a fantastic night! Although it was extremely hot and my time wasn't exactly the best in the group, I have to say it was one of the more exciting races I have run.People thought that it was a crazy idea to run in the heat yesterday. It wasn't as bad as you might expect. The best part was how involved the neighborhood is in this event. Most of the houses we ran past had either a sprinkler or someone with a hose to cool of the sun-beaten runners.

I enjoy running these races because of the challenge each course poses. You see I don't set out to beat anyone person or any group either. I compete against myself. I want to get faster each race and beat my time from the previous race or run that I am a part of. Plus, it is a great way to see parts of WNY that I may not get to see. In addition to all that, you get to help these smaller organizations by entering with your registration fees. And the beer blasts at the end of the races are usually a great time to boot!

How did I fare? I took 21:58 to complete the 3 miles. Placed 9 in my age group (30-34).Not my best, but still a fantastic night!! I'll be back to beat that next year!
