It’s time once again for our Hometown Hero, brought to you by Batavia Downs Gaming. And we would like to thank our friends at WNY Heroes who help us with our nominations every week as well. This Week’s Hometown Hero is orignally from Wheatfield, NY.  He comes to us from the Army. It’s Thomas Cannuli!

Thomas signed for the army in 2007  to be an avenger missile system repair tech. He was deployed to Iraq from 2010-11. Unfortunately while he was in Iraq, he lost a brother who was also deployed to Afghanistan at the same time (SPC. Alan Dikcis).

He then switched to  army reserve in 2012 and was assigned to the Niagara falls air reserve base. He is still there today.

Some awards include army service ribbon , global war on terrorism service medal, national defense service medal, Iraq campaign medal W/(one  campaign star) , military outstanding volunteer service medal, army overseas ribbon ,the army good conduct medal ,the army achievement medal(2), the army accommodation medal , the Meritorious unit citation ,  a drivers badge , and a gold star family lapel pin .

We want to say thank you to him and his entire family for their sacrifice. Nothing can ever bring your brother back but there’s no question that we are eternally grateful for his sacrifice. This week, we are proud to call Thomas Cannuli our Hometown Hero of the week.
