.22 Caliber Killer – Western New York’s Top 5 Crime Cases

His name was Joseph Christopher – a one man killing machine who hated blacks. In September, 1980 in less than two days he shot and killed three black victims in Buffalo and one more in Niagara Falls all using the same .22 caliber gun. Two weeks later he killed two Buffalo cabbies and cut out their hearts. In New York City, five black and one Hispanic men were stabbed in less than 13 hours. Two more fatal stabbings happened in Rochester and in Buffalo in December of that year. Then police turned their attention to Fort Benning, Georgia where a Buffalo soldier stabbed a black soldier. Inside his home in Buffalo police found weapons and .22 caliber ammunition. He was convicted of three murders and sentenced to 60 years in prison. Later during an interview he admitted he committed no less than 13 murders.
