The Buffalo Sabres remain winless after six games this season. They battled the defending Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks to the end but still came up short 2-1 in Chicago Saturday night.

Despite numerous scoring chances, especially in the third period, the Sabres just couldn't overcome Chicago's two power play goals. Drew Stafford scored the lone Buffalo goal on a great pass from Cody Hodgson late in the third period. The Sabres came close to tying it several times, but Blackhawks goaltender Corey Crawford finished with 27 saves. Ryan Miller was terrific in goal for the Sabres, stopping 38 shots.

The Sabres drop to 0-5-1. They host former Sabres Captain Jason Pominville and the Minnesota Wild on Monday night.
