Officials in North Tonawanda are looking for donations of original art to be displayed in vacant storefronts along Oliver Street in the city as part of an initiative to be known as 'Art on Oliver Street'.

The art will be displayed in the windows of a number of vacant buildings and storefronts to create a walking art gallery in the hopes of generating pedestrian traffic back to what was once a thriving business district.  Also to be added will be a large painted mural on the side of a building and a 3-D window display.

The donations will be reviewed by a committee of business and community leaders along with local artists to determine how best to display the art.  The Lumber City Development Corporation is hoping to begin work on the project in the spring with a targeted grand opening in June.
