At last nights show at UB, I had the chance to sit and watch from the audience. Believe it or not, it is rare that we as radio guys/gals sit and watch the show.  There usually is some sort of responsibility that we have that keeps us backstage.  It may be introducing winners to the stars or perhaps "schmoozing" clients or other distinguished guests.

I thought the show itself was amazing.  It lived up to the standard that we at WYRK have set for this type of show.  If I had to pick a favorite, I would say that Joe Nichols would be it.  Sunny Sweeney and James Wesley are dynamite talents, Joe just has songs that I relate to better.

While waiting for the show to start, I was able be in my seat early enough to catch John LaMond's pre-show announcements.   I couldn't help but think how great it is to work with such talented people as John, Dale, Wendy, Brett, Josh and the entire staff that works for this great station.  I'm not trying to kiss anybody's butt, or brown nose, but, as I sat and watched John (a guy I grew up listening to) do his MC duties, I had a feeling of pride in who we are.  Not as disc jockeys (announcer we are called today) but as a family.  It brought a smile to my face knowing that I am lucky enough to be included as a part of it.

Yes, like any family, we have our share of arguments, disagreements and quarrels.  However, just like any STRONG family we all come together to get things done.  It's a team effort to get such a great show like last night put together.

On behalf of our family, thank you for attending the show.  If you missed it this time...plan on being at one in the future.  Oh by the way, just like any big family...plan on being at our "reunion" on June 3rd!  The Taste Of Country is  a gathering of 20,000 of our extended family members!!
