For many years now I have closely followed the careers of Alan Jackson and Kix Brooks. I can remember having dinner with Alan Jackson in 1989 when his debut "Home" was barely entering the Billboard Country Singles Chart. I had the feeling back then that he would eventually become a major country star. Fast forward to April of 1992 when I was getting ready to emcee a show at Kleinhans Music Hall with headliner Ricky Van Shelton and opening acts Lorrie Morgan and Brooks and Dunn. They always say that first impressions are lasting. As I was waiting backstage, Kix Brooks walked up to me and shook my hand and said, "Hi, I'm Kix Brooks, Do you want a beer?" From that moment on, I was a Kix Brooks fan. At their last concert in WNY last year, I reminded Kix about the first meeting we had. He chuckled and said he thought it was pretty cool that I had never forgotten that.
Last week, Alan Jackson and Kix Brooks become the latest members of the Nashville Walk of Fame. The total number of stars on the Nashville Walk of Fame is now at 58. Congratulations to Alan and Kix!
