It's a show that Clay, Liz and I watch on a regular basis and the man who has hosted the show for decades will be staying around for a while.  Alex Trebek has signed a contract extension that will keep him on "Jeopardy" thru the middle of 2018.

So for now that ends the speculation on Trebek's possible retirement and who his replacement will be.  "Today Show" host Matt Lauer, CNN's Anderson Cooper, sportscasters Dan Patrick and Josh Elliott, even NBC's Brian Williams have been mentioned as possible replacements over the past few years.

Trebek reportedly makes $10-million a year.  And what a great job - they tape a whole week's worth of shows in one day.  Obviously it's something Trebek can handle, even at the age of 74.  He's hosted over 7,000 episodes since Jeopardy debuted in syndication in 1984.

Art Fleming was the only other host of Jeopardy from its daytime version debut in 1964 thru 1975, then a two-year revival from 1978 to 1979.

At the same time Pat Sajak and Vanna White have signed new contracts to remain with "Wheel of Fortune".  It means Pat will be helping contestants spin the wheel and Vanna will be turning letters thru mid 2018.
