During Friday's preview of the Thunder On Niagara Air Show at the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Base in Niagara Falls, invited guests got to see an incredible display of the technology available to this country's armed forces.  The USAF Thunderbirds precision flying team got top billing, but every branch of the military was well-represented.

What I was most impressed with was the demonstration of the U-S Marine Corp Harrier jet.  It lifts off vertically, then powers up and it's off.  After a couple passes by the airport it returned, hovered over the runway and remained stationary for at least a minute, then turned 90 degrees facing the crowd, then turned 180 degrees and powered straight up.  What an incredible airplane.

Tours are being offered of some of the Air Forces largest planes - a bomber, transport planes and cargo planes, plus an array of vintage aircraft.

Thunder On Niagara is free, parking is free.  Enter the Niagara Air Reserve Base from the Lockport Road entrance and you'll be directed to parking.  Make sure you bring sunscreen, a chair and your camera.  The show is absolutely amazing.
