In an unexpected move The Limited women's clothing store chain shut down all 250 of its nationwide stores over the weekend.  At the same time the chain laid off 4,000 workers.

The Limited joins Sears and Macy's in closing dozens of stores including several in Buffalo.  The Limited had operated stores at the Boulevard Mall and Walden Galleria.

In a statement The Limited said fewer customers at shopping centers is the reason for the closing.  They also said the fashions and styles customers have come to expect will still be available online.

It's a tough blow for both the Boulevard Mall and Walden Galleria.  The Limited is the second major retailer to announce their closing inside of a week.  Earlier, Sears announced the closing of dozens of stores across the country including locations at the Boulevard Mall and Walden Galleria.

Macy's has also recently announced the closing of dozens of stores nationwide, but none in Buffalo.  The closing of a store in Rochester is the closest location to Buffalo.
