When I was growing up, the Sears and JC Penney Catalogs were popular catalogs and for the most part, it was how we use to pick out what we wanted for Christmas.  Back in the 70's and 80's having the Sears and JC Penney Catalogs was the way we shopped without going to the actual store.  In those days, that was sort of our online shopping.  We would pick what we liked, call the 800 number with the item codes and then wait a few weeks to pick it up at the store.  Yes online shopping these days is easy having what you shop for delivered right to your door, but it is sad to see stores like Sears close because of the changing times.

WIVB reports today that The Sears store in Wheatfield inside the declining Summit Park Mall is slated for closing no specific date has been set for the stores final close but August is the predicted month. Liquidation begins on May 18th.

I have a lot great memories surrounding Sears, my grandma, mom and sisters all worked at our local Sears in Mount Pleasant Michigan.
