My wife and I were talking yesterday, and we both agreed that holidays and weekends almost make us more tired.  Now don't get me wrong.  I'm not saying that we should do away with holidays.  I'm saying holidays should require two days off, minimum, or be preceeded by the weekend.

It's a feeble argument, I know.  But you can't knock a guy for trying.  I mean really, I can't be the only one that feels like this the day after a holiday.

So here's what I propose: All holidays from here on out will require one "ramp down" day to kind of give us a day to recoup from the holiday.  Does that work?

Probably not.  Oh well.  I tried.

But honestly, people are super-busy these days.  There is no downtime for most Americans.  If we're not working 12-hour days (or more sometimes) or working 6-7 day workweeks, we're running the kids to and from sports or friends' houses.  There is no down time.  So then we get time allotted for "down time," and we have to jam everything else into that time.  Remind me again when we're supposed to relax and unwind?
