It’s time once again for our Hometown Hero, brought to you by Keller Chevrolet and Batavia Downs gaming.  This Week’s Hometown Hero is originally from Lakeview, NY.  It’s 20 year old Army Specialist Tyler Augustine.

Tyler comes from a long line of military. From about age 9 he said he was going to be an Army Soldier.  On his father’s side, his grandfather, both uncles and his dad were all army. On his mom’s side, he has 6 great uncles, 2 uncles, his aunt, his step father and his mom all in the military covering the US Marine Corps, the US Navy, and the US Army. When he was a junior in high school be began the process of enlisting, and spent his entire senior year working with the recruiters to ship after graduation. Three weeks after he graduated high school he left for basic training. One month after getting to his first real duty station, he left for Afghanistan where he experienced more than any 18 year old should, and turned 19 while there. He returned to FT Brag, NC where he has had to deal with the affects war has on a soldier, but remains focused and positive through it all. He is planning now to attend College focusing on computer related fields.

Tyler is an amazing son. He has always been very protective of me(his mom) and of his sister.  Although overseas or NC, he continues to look after me and his sister. He is an incredible young man and I tear up thinking of how proud I am of him. So many people have a hero in their life, but I got to raise mine and I could not be more proud of him. He has done what only 1% of our population does.. He enlisted in the military to carry on a family tradition, and to protect this country of ours. He has no regrets, and is proud to put his uniform on everyday. For his selfless service and continued protection of his family I would like to nominate my son Tyler Augustine for the hometown hero of the week.

It is for his selfless service and continued protection of his family that we are proud to call Tyler Augustine our Hometown Hero of the week.

Thanks once again to Army Specialist Tyler Augustine, our Hometown Hero of the week!
