Dale Mussen

I've been doing this radio thing for over 35 years now. I've been a part of the Breakfast Club morning show since 1986. Since I was a kid, I've loved to read. I read the newspaper each day nearly cover to cover – usually not the classifieds though. I get a lot of ideas for my Daily Data segment just by reading the paper. I’m a lifelong Bills and Sabres fan, and I've been a regular in the press box of both teams since 1979 -- but I'm still waiting for one of them to win a championship! Four cracks at it for the Bills and two for the Sabres, and they came up short. I was born and raised in the Buffalo area. I went to school at Niagara University, and since Clay went to Canisius, we get to raz each other twice each year when the Eagles and Griffs meet to play basketball. I have a large collection of records. I'm one of the few that still has the old vinyl, including a lot of old 45s in their original sleeves. Some kids probably have no idea what I'm talking about at this point. My favorite things to do in my spare time are bike riding and fixing things around the house, and each fall, I officiate high school football games.

Jimmie Johnson Wins at Daytona [VIDEO]

Following the tragedy of the day before in the Nationwide race, the Daytona 500 finished with a big wreck on the final lap, but the track was clear to the finish line so the race stayed green to the end. Dale Earnhardt, Junior got a shove from Mark Martin to threaten, but it was Jimmie Johnson holding on to win the series biggest race for the second time his career.

Sabres Nosedive Continues

I've been following this Buffalo Sabres team since its inception in 1970 and I can say without a doubt this is the lowest point in franchise history.  They've already fired the long-time coach and there's been no noticeable change in the team's performance.  Saturday night at First Niagara Center the boos were mixed with calls to fire the general manager.  You can fire the entire front office and the entire support staff and it still wouldn't make a difference.  This team is bad and its the players.

Lindy Ruff Says Goodbye

The coach bids farewell and the cowboy rides away.  Long-time Buffalo Sabres head coach Lindy Ruff says goodbye after being fired two days earlier, and George Strait gives his final concert in Buffalo -- on the same day! This is a way too emotional day for me.  Two class acts that I've admired for years, and it's hard to let go.

New Coach, Same Result For The Sabres

Coaching didn't make a difference in the Sabres first game with a new coach.  With Ron Rolston behind the Buffalo bench the Sabres made the same mistakes they've been making all season in a 3-1 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs.

What You Probably Didn’t Know About George Washington

Today (February 22), we celebrate the birthday of George Washington, born in 1732.  He was pretty sickly during his life – suffering from malaria, smallpox, pleurisy and dysentery, all before he was 30. He almost drowned twice when he fell into an icy river on his way back from an expedition to a French fort in northwestern Pennsylvania.

The story of how he cut down a cherry tree with his new axe never happened. It was made up by a biographer years after he died.

The field is now set for Sunday’s Daytona 500 after Kevin Harvick and Kyle Busch emerged the winners of Thursday’s Budweiser Duels. Coming off the victory in the Sprint Unlimited, Harvick won his heat in the Duel 150's and that will place him in the third starting position on Sunday while Busch will start fourth.
