Dale Mussen

I've been doing this radio thing for over 35 years now. I've been a part of the Breakfast Club morning show since 1986. Since I was a kid, I've loved to read. I read the newspaper each day nearly cover to cover – usually not the classifieds though. I get a lot of ideas for my Daily Data segment just by reading the paper. I’m a lifelong Bills and Sabres fan, and I've been a regular in the press box of both teams since 1979 -- but I'm still waiting for one of them to win a championship! Four cracks at it for the Bills and two for the Sabres, and they came up short. I was born and raised in the Buffalo area. I went to school at Niagara University, and since Clay went to Canisius, we get to raz each other twice each year when the Eagles and Griffs meet to play basketball. I have a large collection of records. I'm one of the few that still has the old vinyl, including a lot of old 45s in their original sleeves. Some kids probably have no idea what I'm talking about at this point. My favorite things to do in my spare time are bike riding and fixing things around the house, and each fall, I officiate high school football games.

The First Human Rocket

Can you imagine a time when a man flying in space was a dream? I was pretty young when it happened, but I can remember when the first man was launched into space, when the first man orbited the Earth and when the first man set foot on the moon. It’s just a footnote in history these days, but just the thought of that just a few decades ago was incredible.

Penguins Embarrass The Sabres

There are times when I'm embarrassed to admit I'm a Buffalo Sabres fan -- like this whole season. What a mess of a team.

There is some talent, but obviously not enough, and that's thanks to the mismanagement of the joker who was general manager for way too long.

Buffalo Sabres Losing Tradition Continues

Just another typical night of awful hockey by the Buffalo Sabres. A shorthanded goal early in the third period turned out to be the difference in a 3-2 loss to the Edmonton Oilers as the Sabres looked determined to prove, without a doubt, they are the worst team in the NHL.

The Day The Music Died

In the Don McLean song “American Pie”, it’s known as the “day the music died.” It’s the day in 1959 when Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and “the Big Bopper” J.P. Richardson were killed when their plane crashed during a snowstorm in an Iowa cornfield.

All You Ever Wanted To Know About Groundhogs

Groundhog Day is this Sunday.  You already know the Groundhog Day story. It’s been going on every February 2 since 1887 in Punxsutawney, Penn., when Punxsutawney Phil makes his prediction on whether we’re going to get an early spring.

But what do you know about groundhogs?

The Beatles’ Strange Final Performance

A week from Sunday will mark the 50th anniversary of Beatlemania in this country. It’s when the Beatles made their first appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show. It began the British invasion of rock acts, and some say the Beatles may have lifted the spirits of a country still mourning the assassination of President Kennedy just a little over two months before.
