Dale Mussen

I've been doing this radio thing for over 35 years now. I've been a part of the morning show since 1986. Since I was a kid, I've loved to read. I read the newspaper each day nearly cover to cover – usually not the classifieds though. I get a lot of ideas for my Daily Data segment just by reading the paper. I’m a lifelong Bills and Sabres fan, and I've been a regular in the press box of both teams since 1979 -- but I'm still waiting for one of them to win a championship! Four cracks at it for the Bills and two for the Sabres, and they came up short. I was born and raised in the Buffalo area. I went to school at Niagara University, and since Clay went to Canisius, we get to raz each other twice each year when the Eagles and Griffs meet to play basketball. I have a large collection of records. I'm one of the few that still has the old vinyl, including a lot of old 45s in their original sleeves. Some kids probably have no idea what I'm talking about at this point. My favorite things to do in my spare time are bike riding and fixing things around the house, and each fall, I officiate high school football games.

Buffalo Bills Soon to Be Playing in New Era Stadium?

After being known as Ralph Wilson Stadium since 1998 when the naming rights agreement with Rich Products expired, the stadium in Orchard Park will soon have a new name.  The Buffalo Bills announced on Saturday that they've reached an agreement with New Era Cap Company on a naming rights deal for the stadium. Exactly what the name will be will be revealed during a press conference this week.

The Crystal Beach Comet – Let’s Go For a Ride [VIDEO]

Boy does this bring back memories.  Most families in Western New York went to Crystal Beach Amusement Park once a year.  You might go on Kenmore Days, or Trico Day or Westinghouse Day or any one of a number of designated municipal or company days during the summer.

Massive Fire In Lockport Forces Evacuations

Smoke from a four-alarm fire in Lockport Wednesday night could be seen for miles as firefighters worked into the night trying to save nearby homes in an industrial area of the city.  Residents near the High Tread tire recycling plant in the west end of Lockport were ordered to leave their homes as a precaution because winds threatened to fan the flames into nearby neighborhoods.

Meth Lab Found In A Sewer – Say What?

Amherst Police say it was during a random, routine inspection that a working meth lab was found in a storm sewer under the parking lot of the Walmart on Sheridan Drive at North Bailey on Monday afternoon.  Area fire companies and State Police responded to the scene and determined it wasn't simply supplies that had been disposed of there, but actually was an active, working meth lab.

Denny Hamlin Wins His First Road Course Race

Denny Hamlin took the lead when Brad Keselowski and Kyle Busch overshot the first turn on a restart with 10 laps left and held on the rest of the way to win Sunday's Sprint Cup race at Watkins Glen, his first road course win and second victory of the season.  Martin Truex, Jr. challenged Hamlin on the final lap and was setting himself up for a pass until Keselowski tapped him from behind and sent him spinning.

The Key Ingredient to John’s Pizza Sauce [VIDEO]

Garlic, salt, pepper, oregano, basil, sugar....I'm not really sure of all of the ingredients in the pizza sauce at John's Pizza and Subs.  But for them the key is and always has been the tomato sauce.  So much so that they actually traveled to a California farm to inspect the tomatoes used in the tomato sauce they use.

Rookie Chris Buescher Wins Rain-Shortened Race at Pocono

It's probably not the way Chris Buescher envisioned winning his first Sprint Cup race, but he'll take it anyway.  Buescher was declared the winner after NASCAR called Monday's race at Pocono with 22 laps left because of weather.  He inherited the lead a few laps earlier during a cycle of green-flag pit stops and when dense fog moved across the track the race was red-flagged, then finally called when a line of thunderstorms made a restart impossible.

Buffalo Bills Drive To End Playoff Drought Underway

They haven't made the playoffs in 16 years...the longest stretch in the NFL, and the team and the fans are sick of it.  But not too much of that was in evidence at St. John Fisher College as the Buffalo Bills opened training camp on Saturday morning.  The team, the coaches and the fans were all up-beat on the prospects of a successful season.
