Dale Mussen

I've been doing this radio thing for over 35 years now. I've been a part of the Breakfast Club morning show since 1986. Since I was a kid, I've loved to read. I read the newspaper each day nearly cover to cover – usually not the classifieds though. I get a lot of ideas for my Daily Data segment just by reading the paper. I’m a lifelong Bills and Sabres fan, and I've been a regular in the press box of both teams since 1979 -- but I'm still waiting for one of them to win a championship! Four cracks at it for the Bills and two for the Sabres, and they came up short. I was born and raised in the Buffalo area. I went to school at Niagara University, and since Clay went to Canisius, we get to raz each other twice each year when the Eagles and Griffs meet to play basketball. I have a large collection of records. I'm one of the few that still has the old vinyl, including a lot of old 45s in their original sleeves. Some kids probably have no idea what I'm talking about at this point. My favorite things to do in my spare time are bike riding and fixing things around the house, and each fall, I officiate high school football games.

Joey Logano Wins 2nd Of The Season At Richmond

It was a crazy night at Richmond International Raceway.  It began with pole sitter Kyle Larson being bumped by Clint Bowyer in the first turn of the first lap and ended with pushing and shoving and even a punch thrown in the pits after the race.  In between there were flaming tires, plenty of spins and the season's second two-time winner.

The Amazing Telescope That Needed Glasses To See

Conceived in the 1940’s, designed in the 1970’s, built in the 1980’s, it was in April of 1990 that the Hubble telescope was placed into orbit by the crew of the space shuttle Discovery. But a huge problem when they tried to get it to work – its main mirror had a flaw – 1/50th of an inch off, so the first images were blurry.
Hubble was basically useless for three years until a repair mission basically outfitted Hubble with glasses. It worked and since then it's been sending back images of the universe ten times clearer than any telescope on earth ever delivered.

Amazing Uses For Salt Other Than On Your Food

We probably eat too much of it. It's on potato chips and pretzels. Many people like it fresh tomatoes and corn on the cob. Buffalo's famous beef on weck features a roll with caroway seeds and salt. Some people pick up the salt shaker and sprinkle salt all over their food without even tasting it first to find out if they really need it.

45 Years Later Earth Day Was Worth It

Today is the 45th annual Earth Day. The first one was April 22nd, 1970 at a time when cities were buried under their own smog and polluted rivers caught fire.

In 1963, Wisconsin Senator Gaylord Nelson began to worry about our planet – the water and air was being polluted. Plants and animals were dying and he wondered why more people weren't trying to solve these problems. It was talked about in Congress. The president made speeches, but not enough people were working on solutions.
