Dale Mussen

I've been doing this radio thing for over 35 years now. I've been a part of the Breakfast Club morning show since 1986. Since I was a kid, I've loved to read. I read the newspaper each day nearly cover to cover – usually not the classifieds though. I get a lot of ideas for my Daily Data segment just by reading the paper. I’m a lifelong Bills and Sabres fan, and I've been a regular in the press box of both teams since 1979 -- but I'm still waiting for one of them to win a championship! Four cracks at it for the Bills and two for the Sabres, and they came up short. I was born and raised in the Buffalo area. I went to school at Niagara University, and since Clay went to Canisius, we get to raz each other twice each year when the Eagles and Griffs meet to play basketball. I have a large collection of records. I'm one of the few that still has the old vinyl, including a lot of old 45s in their original sleeves. Some kids probably have no idea what I'm talking about at this point. My favorite things to do in my spare time are bike riding and fixing things around the house, and each fall, I officiate high school football games.

Buffalo Sabres Fail To Show Up In Loss To Montreal

I've been a fan of the Buffalo Sabres since they began play in 1970.  I've missed very few games over the years but if there was ever one to miss it was Thursday night's game against the Montreal Canadiens.  It was obvious many of the Sabres have given up any hope of making the  playoffs when they didn't bother to show up.

Original Civil War Casualty Numbers Were Wrong

Today marks the 152nd anniversary of the start of the bloodiest four years in American history. For more than 100 years the estimated death toll of the American Civil War stood at just under 619,000. It’s hard to believe but that number is nearly as many American soldiers killed in all the other wars this country has fought combined – World Wars One and Two, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, Mexican War, Spanish American War….just an incredible number of lives lost….Americans killing Americans.

5 Unusual Income Tax Deductions

Today’s the day I get together with my tax guy to file my income tax return. Yeah, that’s something I always looks forward to. Not.

If you itemize your deductions this is something you should be doing all year – thinking about the things you buy and you need in your line of work that you could declare as a tax deduction. You never know. The worst the IRS can say is no, right? Here are some unusual tax deductions the IRS actually approved.

What Are Some Baby Names For Boys AND Girls?

We’re always talking about the most popular names for little baby girls and boys. But how about names that could be used to name a boy or a girl. Call ‘em gender neutral names. I have one – Dale. When I went to school – and it was a pretty large high school - there were only two students named Dale and the other was a girl.

Buffalo Sabres Win Streak Ends In Winnipeg

So much for the winning streak.  After three straight victories the Buffalo Sabres came crashing down to earth with a 4-1 loss in Winnipeg.  Giveaways in the second period were costly with the Jets scoring three times while at the other end the Sabres had trouble cashing in on the  opportunities they had.

You Wouldn’t Want To Meet This Spider Face To Face

There was the story in the Buffalo News on Monday about a Clarence man who won a $1.6 million judgement in a lawsuit against the town and a developer for diverting rain water onto his property creating a swamp. But even worse for him was the wetlands brought frogs and he has a frog phobia – so much so he was a prisoner in his own home. It may sound funny, but for him it wasn’t.
