Dale Mussen

I've been doing this radio thing for over 35 years now. I've been a part of the Breakfast Club morning show since 1986. Since I was a kid, I've loved to read. I read the newspaper each day nearly cover to cover – usually not the classifieds though. I get a lot of ideas for my Daily Data segment just by reading the paper. I’m a lifelong Bills and Sabres fan, and I've been a regular in the press box of both teams since 1979 -- but I'm still waiting for one of them to win a championship! Four cracks at it for the Bills and two for the Sabres, and they came up short. I was born and raised in the Buffalo area. I went to school at Niagara University, and since Clay went to Canisius, we get to raz each other twice each year when the Eagles and Griffs meet to play basketball. I have a large collection of records. I'm one of the few that still has the old vinyl, including a lot of old 45s in their original sleeves. Some kids probably have no idea what I'm talking about at this point. My favorite things to do in my spare time are bike riding and fixing things around the house, and each fall, I officiate high school football games.

Kevin Harvick Becomes This Season’s First Two-Time Winner

Kevin Harvick became the first two-time Cup winner this season by passing Dale Earnhardt, Jr. on the next to last lap in the second green, white, checkered event to win the Bojangles Southern 500 Saturday night at Darlington Speedway.  It all but assures him of a spot in the Chase for the Sprint Cup Championship this fall as long he finished within the Top 30 in points.

Late Goal Sinks Buffalo Sabres

You just know it's coming.  Even on a night when they give a full effort during this season to forget, the Buffalo Sabres are going to give up a key goal that loses another game.  The Sabres played the New York Rangers eyeball to eyeball for 58 minutes Thursday night in New York but a bad line change led to the Rangers' best chance of the night and they made it count to defeat the Sabres 2-1.

Celebrating Submarine Day

Today is Submarine Day. Is it a celebration of 12-inch sandwiches or underwater boats? Apparently it’s for the establishment of the U.S. Submarine Force in 1900. There was an experimental submarine that the Confederates built during the Civil War – the H. L. Hunley – it was only 40 feet long and the eight men inside powered it by sitting two by two across from each other and turning a crank to run the propeller. After the only successful attack on a Union ship, the Hunley was attacked and destroyed.

Today is Golf Day

April 10th is considered Golfer’s or Golf Day. Not sure if it honors golfers, the sport, the weather, the beginning of the golf season, but no matter for many it’s an excuse to take a day off from work and play some golf. Problem in this area the day probably falls a little too early in spring and after the winter we had you’re not going to find any courses open.

Sabres Give Red Wings A Battle [VIDEO]

We were told it would be a painful season, but we had no idea it would be this miserable.  And with mounting injuries necessitating back-ups to the back-ups being inserted into the lineup all you can ask is that the Buffalo Sabres give everything they have.  And I'll give credit when it's due.  They gave all they had against a clearly superior team.

Seven Races, Seven Sprint Cup Winners

Seven races and seven different winners so far in the Sprint Cup season.  Joey Logano looked like he'd easily win the rain-delayed Duck Commander 500 at Texas Motor Speedway until Kurt Busch shredded a tire on the second-last lap forcing the seventh caution of the day.  It set up a green-white-checkered finish and big decision for all of the leaders.  Some took on two tires, some took four.
