Researchers in Italy of all places say eating pizza can cut your chances of getting some cancers. Wow – something to eat that’s good for you and tastes good too? That doesn't happen too often.

The study found people who ate pizza at least once a week had a 59 percent lower risk of developing cancer of the esophagus, 34 percent lower risk for mouth cancer and 26 percent lower risk for colon and prostate cancer.

What’s the key? Tomatoes. Lycopene in the tomato sauce is an antioxidant. But I suppose eating tomatoes in any form would do it….spaghetti sauce, tomato salsa, tomatoes in a salad.

But you have to remember the study doesn't say just eating pizza can prevent cancer. You have to maintain a healthy diet and lifestyle.

Other researchers say the study is interesting, but you have to remember that pizza can be high in saturated fat, salt and calories.
