They played with passion, they got a great performance from goaltender Michael Neuvirth, but a late goal by the Tampa Bay Lightning was the difference in the Buffalo Sabres 2-1 loss Friday night.  It was the Sabres seventh straight loss.

The Sabres were playing the second of back to back games while the Lightning were fresh and it showed in the second period when the Lightning put an incredible 27 shots on goal.  The Sabres managed just 21 for the game.

Neuvirth finished stopping 45 of 47 shots, some of them were spectacular like this one in the Dominik Hasek category:

Buffalo's lone goal came when the Sabres were skating shorthanded. Cody McCormick took a pass from Patrick Kaleta and ripped a shot into the net.

The Sabres are back home on Tuesday night when they host the Detroit Red Wings and retire the number 39 jersey of Dominik Hasek.
