Billy Currington has released a new single, "It Don't Hurt Like It Used To," off of his 2015 album, Summer Forever.

Billy will headline the 2016 WYRK Toyota Taste of Country with Eli Young Band, Granger Smith and LoCash. Tickets are on sale now. Get details here.

The new track, which will be released to radio on Feb. 8, was co-written by Currington along with Cary Barlowe and Shy Carter during a low-key hangout session with friends.

“I just stopped by to see a couple of buddies, Cary and Shy, one night," Currington recalls in a press release. "Cary and I picked up guitars at the same time and played basically the same chord, and the next thing you know, we were writing the song.”

The singer drew on his own history when working on the tune. Specifically, the line "Did all I could to try to make it work / But you drug my heart through the Alabama dirt" was inspired by a former romance.

“I remember I just started saying all the words that you hear in the beginning of the song. They just started falling out,” Currington tells Radio.com. “Shy was like, ‘What was that, man?’ I said, ‘I don’t know, it’s just coming out.’ So we wrote ’em down, and then I guess within an hour, the song had basically written itself.”

Currington will kick off his Summer Forever Tour in San Antonio, Texas, on Feb. 19, with dates scheduled through mid-April. More information can be found at BillyCurrington.com.

Summer Forever is available for download via Amazon and iTunes.
