Brad Keselowski Wins Crash-Filled Day at Talladega

Brad Keselowski became the season's fourth two-time Sprint Cup Series winner in a crash-filled race at Talladega Superspeedway on Sunday.  Keselowski outdueled Kurt Busch on the final restart with two laps left and was clearly in the lead on the final lap when a group of cars behind him brought out the 10th caution of the race.

The victory is Keselowski's fourth at Talladega and 19th of his career.  He was tops among all drivers by leading 46 of the 188 laps.

At one point you couldn't help but wonder if there would be enough cars on the track to finish the race.  At tracks like Talladega and Daytona you wait for the "big one", but on Sunday there were three of them.

The first of the "big ones" came on lap 96 when rookie Chris Buescher took the brunt of a 7-car wreck as his car rolled three times after bumping with Michael Annett.  Then on lap 161 a total of 21 cars were involved when Kurt Busch tapped Jimmy Johnson to trigger a massive wreck.

With 20 laps left and drivers taking chances because of a threat of rain another big wreck involved 12 cars including Danica Patrick and Matt Kenseth.  Kenseth's car was sent sliding upside down along the inside backstretch wall.

The day ended early for Dale Earnhardt, Jr. and Carl Edwards when the second crash of the day for both destroyed both cars.  Earnhardt was just looking to put in laps after an earlier crash when something on Edwards' car broke sending him directly into Earnhardt's Number 88.  It was a tough day for Earnhardt who at one point had his steering wheel come off and for a moment he had to steer by gripping the steering column until he was able to reattach the steering wheel.

When the field was frozen as the final caution flag flew Kyle Busch was in second place with Austin Dillon third, Jamie McMurray fourth and pole-sitter Chase Elliott completing the Top 5.

Ty Dillon replaced Tony Stewart during the first caution of the race.  With Stewart still recovering from a broken back it turned out to be a good idea considering all the wrecks.  Dillon finished sixth.
