Now that they're in their sixth year of hosting the CMA Awards, Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood are used to the high pressure of live television -- and of course, that includes the all-important opening monologue.

The 2013 CMA Awards monologue should be a breeze compared to the last-minute changes the duo had to make last year.

"Last year was the worst as far as just a monkey wrench thrown into it," Paisley confessed at the CMA Awards Radio Broadcast Orientation Sunday night (Nov. 3). "At six o'clock we were sitting in her [Carrie Underwood's] dressing room going, 'What do we say at the end of the monologue? How do we end this?' We really didn't know when we walked out."

Paisley reveals there were four things that had to be changed from the 2012 CMA Awards monologue, and they all happened at the very last minute -- but you wouldn't know it from watching.

"We were both afraid to watch it, because we didn't know if it came off, and you go back and look at it and it's like, 'Oh, that's great,' so I kind of got a lot of confidence from what happened last year," he says.

If you're a regular viewer of country music's biggest night, you know the opening monologue consists of a lot of jabs at other artists and celebs -- and this year won't be any different. The two hope it's all in good fun, though.

"Hopefully everybody can just giggle at themselves," Underwood says, implying that some artists have been less than thrilled at being the butt of the joke in years past.

"I know I can. I know Brad can," she adds. "We don't ever, of course, set out for anything. We are so proud of our format and all the people in it. It's awesome."

Paisley reveals that Underwood has been doing her homework, texting him daily with updates on who had a meltdown or wound up in jail. "We feel like the biggest sadists. It's like we're rooting for people to fail," the 'Beat This Summer' singer says jokingly.

Who knows what's in store for the 2013 CMA Awards show opener, but maybe viewers will get a taste of a Paisley/Underwood rendition of 'What Does the Fox Say.' Paisley shares that his son is a fan of the song, so he's familiar with it.

"That is not what they say," he jokes about the viral song. "That song is full of crap."
