It's that time of year again. The grass is growing fast, and plants are starting to bloom.  It's time to start getting out the gardening tools and get to work!  That's what I was doing yesterday when I discovered this!

It was a family of mice! As I was shuffling through our old gloves and rags, I saw a tail.  At first I thought it was a snake because all that I saw was the end of the tail.  But then I saw the little head pop out.  Before I knew it, there was a mouse making a run for it as it bounced its way out of the pot it had settled in all winter.

That one must have been the mom because she was much bigger.  But what was left after that is where this video picks up.  It was three baby mice that weren't quite big enough to hop out like their mom does.  Against my better judgement, this is what I did...

Yes, I let them go...this time.  I understand that chances of survival for them is slim now that they're away from their mother but what was I going to do?  Many people say you have to kill them or they'll come into your house. That's probably true.  I just couldn't bring myself to do it this time.

I took them back way behind my house and put them next to a pile of wood where they might find some shelter.  Then again, they might find some snakes, or a turkey vulture back there too.  But that's the circle of life right?
