Buffalo Bills Bring Training Camp to New Era Field

For many long-time fans of the Buffalo Bills who just don't have the resources to attend games at the stadium, Friday night's free training camp workout at New Era Field had an added bonus - autographs.  Following the two hour workout nearly all the players obliged the fans with pen to helmets, shirts, footballs and anything else the fans could get the players to sign.

Although he received the night off from practice, one of the busiest players Friday night was LeSean McCoy.  With fans shouting "Shady, Shady, Shady" McCoy had a tough time turning down any appeal for an autograph.  In addition to McCoy, Kyle Williams, Lorenzo Alexander and Trent Murphy sat out the workout.

For fans who've never had a chance to see what happens at training camp in Rochester, Friday night's event was a pretty good indication of what happens at St. John Fisher College.  But it also served as a bit of a dress rehearsal for the Bills first preseason game at the stadium on Thursday, August 9th.

In addition to the usual positional unit workouts, the Bills did a lot of 11 on 11 work on  situational scenarios....Red Zone hurry-up offense, goal line plays, third and fourth down and short.  The Bills also continue to work on kickoff coverage under the new kickoff rules and they also put in some time with punting.

With McCoy sitting out, some other running backs on the roster we haven't seen a lot of got some play time and one of the nicest plays of the night was a 70-yard touchdown run by rookie running back Keith Ford out of Texas A & M.  He didn't want to take too much of the credit though - he kept insisting it was all the work of the offensive line and it was simply a matter of finding the right hole.

The Bills next workout is Sunday, August 5th at 2:15 pm at St. John Fisher College in Rochester.  You do need a ticket to get in.  Here are the locations to obtain tickets:
