After a second interview at the Boca Raton, Florida home of Buffalo Bills owner Terry Pegula, the team apparently has hired Carolina Panthers defensive coordinator Sean McDermott as head coach.  He'll replace Rex Ryan who was fired one game before the end of his second season as Bills head coach.

CBS Sports’ Jason LaCanfora was first to report the news on Twitter.

McDermott has been the defensive coordinator of the Carolina Panthers for the past five seasons.  During that time the Panthers defense has ranked in the Top 10 four of his five seasons there.

Before working for the Panthers, McDermott spent 12 seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles.  The last two of those seasons he was defensive coordinator.

The Bills will officially introduce McDermott as the team's new head coach as early as Friday.
