It had been over a week since the Buffalo Bills met with veteran wide receiver Anquan Boldin.  Today the Bills and the agent for Boldin announced the two sides had reached agreement on a one-year contract.  Boldin ranks 3rd in the NFL in career receptions with 1,076 and third in receiving yardage (13,779) since entering the league in 2003.

He was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals in the second round of the 2003 NFL draft and played seven seasons for the Cardinals before moving to the Baltimore Ravens for three seasons then three seasons with the San Francisco 49ers.  He was with the Detroit Lions last year.

Boldin was the 2003 Offensive Rookie Player of the Year and has been selected for 3 Pro Bowls.  He was also named the 2015 Walter Payton Man of the Year for his community service.

  • He set or holds seven NFL records including most receptions in a rookie season (101)
  • Most receiving yards in first career game (217)
  • Fasted to record 500 career receptions (80 games)

At 36 years old he'll provide some veteran leadership to a Buffalo Bills wide receiver group that is very thin with Sammy Watkins questionable as he recovers from multiple surgeries on his foot.  The Bills also have a promising, but unproven rookie in Zay Jones.
