I think this is a pretty good idea, wouldn't you say?

There's already a nighttime curfew for Buffalo kids, but this new proposal would be in place during school hours. The proposed ordinance would be during school hours, Monday through Friday, for kids 17 and under. According to WIVB, Councilman Rasheed Wyatt talked about his idea:

“We’ve been finding out in the district, unfortunately that young people who have been suspended or skipping school, some of them have made poor choices and are burglarizing homes.” The councilman said if children are found on the streets during school hours, under the ordinance officers can ask students about where they’re supposed to be.

“And they will give them an answer. Hopefully it’s a responsible answer. Then the police can call the district. That’s what we’re trying to work out. A hotline where they can call the school district and the district should be able to tell them where that young person is supposed to be.”
