The Buffalo Sabres finally won a game in overtime but a lot of their fans never got to see it.  Trailing 3-2 late in the game many fans gave up on the Sabres, but the Sabres did something they haven't done in a long time.  With time running out they pulled the goaltender for an extra skater and scored to tie the game, then in overtime defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen scored his first goal of the season on the power play to beat the Edmonton Oilers 4-3.

The Sabres came out flying in the first period and dominated the Oilers while taking a 2-0 lead.  But Edmonton took over in the second period scoring a pair of their own to tie it, then took the lead in the third period on their second power play goal of the night.  And for a while it looked like it would end like so many games have ended for the Sabres over the past few years.....the Sabres desperately looking for a goal but failing to get it.  Not this time.

Evander Kane finished with a pair of goals including the one that tied it with 28 seconds left in the third period.  Brian Gionta had the other Buffalo goal.  In addition to his game-winning goal, Ristolainen also had a pair of assists.

So the Sabres finish with 3 of a possible 4 points against two of the better teams in the league in back to back games.  They get a couple days off before hosting the Washington Capitals on Friday night.
