The Buffalo Sabres salvaged the final game of their California road trip with a 2-1 shoot out win over the Anaheim Ducks on Friday night.  Zemgus Girgensons scored the winning goal as each team used 10 players in the shoot out before the issue was decided.  That's the fourth career shoot out goal for Girgensons and each of them have been game winners.

Sabres goaltender Anders Nilsson was spectacular with 39 saves thru regulation and overtime and stopped seven of nine shots in the shoot out while one other shot went over the top of the net.  Rasmus Ristolainen extended the shoot out to a 10th round when he faked Anaheim goaltender Jonathan Bernier to the side of the net and reached around him to tap the puck into the net.  That set the stage for Girgensons to win it.

Ryan O'Reilly scored in the shoot out and was also credited with Buffalo's goal in regulation when a shot by Jake McCabe went off of Bernier's glove, hit O'Reilly's skate and deflected into the Anaheim net.  A lucky goal, but the Sabres don't get too many of them so they'll take it.  And since it was St. Patrick's day it was fitting that O'Reilly had the luck.

The Sabres play one more road game in Detroit on Monday night before returning home to host Pittsburgh on Tuesday.
