What are the chances that a guy who hadn't scored a goal all season long would finally find the back of the net to win the game in a shootout?  That's exactly what happened Tuesday night at First Niagara Center when Ville Leino scored in the ninth round of a shootout to give the Buffalo Sabres a 3-2 win over the New Jersey Devils.  It's been a dismal season for Leino but he had the support of the crowd who rose to their feet and cheered him on when his name was announced as the next shooter and he came thru.

Leino also had a nice assist on one of the two goals that Tyler Ennis scored while goaltender Nathan Lieuwen picked up his first NHL win stopping 33 of 35 shots and 7 of 9 in the shootout.

Ennis and Drew Stafford were the other Sabres to score in the shootout to keep New Jersey winless in nine shootout games this season.

The Sabres are on the road Thursday night facing former teammates Ryan Miller and Steve Ott in St. Louis.
