Rare back to back wins at home for the Buffalo Sabres.  The Sabres built a 3-0 first period lead and held on until Marcus Folgino scored into an empty net late in the third to clinch a 4-1 win over the Colorado Avalanche.

The Sabres scored on their first two shots on goal.  Jack Eichel blasted a shot into the net from the wall and Evander Kane scored from long range to chase Colorado goaltender Semyon Varloamov after less than five minutes.  Sam Reinhart deflected a Ryan O'Reilly shot into the net late in the period and from there it was a matter of playing solid defense and getting good goaltending the rest of the way.

The win broke a 10-game losing streak to the Avalache, their first win over Colorado in over 10 years.  It's just the third time this season the Sabres have won consecutive games at First Niagara Center.

The Sabres play five of their next six games on the road.  They play at Ottawa on Tuesday night.
