Give credit when it's due.  And I'll give credit to the Buffalo Sabres for another well-played game.  They played the Montreal Canadiens eye-ball to eye-ball for the entire game Wednesday night at First Niagara Center, but lost in a shoot-out 2-1.

For the second straight game the Sabres played solid defense against one of the better teams in the NHL.  Michael Neuvirth stopped 31 of 32 shots thru the end of overtime, but the Canadiens won it in the shootout 2-1.

Drew Stafford scored a third period power play goal, just the second of the season for the Sabres.  It tied the game 1-1, forcing overtime, then the shootout.

It's the second straight game that needed extra time to decide.  The Sabres beat the Detroit Red Wings in a shootout on Sunday.

The Sabres continue their homestand hosting Edmonton on Friday and Pittsburgh on Saturday.
