Benoit Pouliot scored in the final 30 seconds of the second period and the Sabres held on until Johan Larsson scored into an empty net to clinch it.

Pouliot's goal actually deflected into the net off of Ducks' defenseman Cam Fowler, but at this point the Sabres will take any luck they can get.  Chad Johnson got the start in goal and made 25 saves.

Justin Bailey was called up from Rochester and made an immediate impact.  After flying west for five hours, Bailey scored on his very first shift just 1:26 into the game.

On the negative side the Sabres gave up their fifth shorthanded goal of the season on a breakaway after both defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen and Ryan O'Reilly misplayed the puck at the blue line during a power play.  The Sabres gave up four shorthanded goals all of last season.

The Sabres conclude their western road trip with their very first visit to Las Vegas to play the Golden Knights.  The Knights are off to a good start with four wins in five games.
