I really feel for the fans who pay money to see Buffalo Sabres hockey games  You have to be pretty committed to stomach what's been happening with the team this season.  Tuesday night the Sabres gave up a power play goal, a short handed goal and an even strength goal.  It was enough for the Detroit Red Wings to beat the Sabres 3-1.

Mike Weber's first goal of the season was one of the few bright spots on another grim night.  If you're counting, that's eight straight losses for Buffalo and 12 in the past 13 games.  Injuries have had a huge impact on what was a weak lineup to begin with.  These guys just can't generate any offense and their defense is brutal.  They were a little better against the Wings than some of their recent games, but it's not just the younger players making the mistakes.  Many of their veterans are making more than their share.

It's a real shame the game turned into such a snoozefest on a night that began so brilliantly with the retirement of goaltender Dominik Hasek's #39 jersey.  Danny Gare and Rene Robert, two other players who've had their jerseys retired brought Hasek's banner onto the ice.

The Sabres remain home to host Minnesota on Thursday night.
