The Buffalo Sabres have become a punch line around the NHL.  For one night at least their comedy show finally came to an end in Montreal.  After 14 straight losses the Sabres held on for a 3-2 win against the Canadiens with Brian Gionta scoring what turned out to be the winning goal against his former team.

For the sixth straight game the Sabres scored the opening goal of the game and built a 3-1 lead, but this time they were actually able to convert that early lead into a win.

Matt Moulson and Drew Stafford had the other Buffalo goals while Jonas Enroth stopped 32 of 34 shots, 15 of those shots coming in the third period.

So that ends the season series against Montreal with the Sabres taking 7 of 8 points in four games against the Canadiens with a record of 3-0-1.

The Sabres are back home for the next five games beginning with a Thursday night meeting the St. Louis Blues.
