Just another typical night of awful hockey by the Buffalo Sabres. A shorthanded goal early in the third period turned out to be the difference in a 3-2 loss to the Edmonton Oilers as the Sabres looked determined to prove, without a doubt, they are the worst team in the NHL.

The Sabres were outclassed by the team that’s just one notch higher than them in the overall standings.

Steve Ott and Drew Stafford had the Buffalo goals in the first period that gave them a 2-1 lead, but the Oilers tied it in the second period and went out on top while the Sabres were skating on the power play.

It appeared the Sabres had tied it in the third period, but the referee blew the whistle to kill the play while the puck was still loose.  Ott says, yeah, they heard the whistle.

.

With 44 shots on goal, Ott says they ran into some bad luck.

Jonas Enroth lost again in goal again. In 19 games this season, he’s emerged a winner just once.

The Sabres host Pittsburgh on Wednesday night.
