The Buffalo Sabres began a 3-game western Canada road trip with a 4-2 loss against the Edmonton Oilers Sunday night.  It was the first time in five games that the Sabres failed to score four goals or more in game.

Jack Eichel got the Sabres off to a good start with his 9th goal of the season for an early 1-0 lead, but the Oilers got the next three to enter the first intermission with a 3-1 lead.

Ryan O'Reilly's second period power play goal cut the Oilers lead to one, but a questionable goal a few minutes later gave the Oilers a two-goal lead again.  First the goal was reviewed to determine if it had been kicked in.  Then the Sabres challenged it on grounds that goaltender Chad Johnson had been interfered with.  The goal withstood both reviews.

So the Sabres move on to Vancouver to take on the Canucks Monday night at 10 pm eastern time.
