Cody Hodgson and Nakita Zadorov celebrate one of four Buffalo goals against the Toronto Maple Leafs [Sabres.com][/caption]The Buffalo Sabres continued their home ice dominance over the Toronto Maple Leafs with a 4-3 win on Wednesday night.  At one point the Sabres trailed 3-1, but Cody Hodgson scored to cut the lead to one, Matt Moulson tied in on the power play and Matt Ellis scored his first goal of the season that turned out to be the winning goal off a great pass from defenseman Nakita Zadorov.

It gives the Sabres five straight wins against the Leafs at First Niagara Center and in the last 17 games at home against the Leafs the Sabres have won 15.

The usual legion of Toronto fans made their pilgrimage to Buffalo to see the Leafs play and with both teams struggling this year at times it was hard to determine who was cheering for who.  You'd hear the occasional "Go, Leafs, Go" chant, but Buffalo fans usually boo when they hear it.  That wasn't the case Wednesday night which could lead you to believe that it might have been some Sabres fans cheering on the Leafs.

Normally the crowd erupts when the visiting team is assessed a penalty and the Sabres are headed to the power play.  Wednesday night there was silence.  It's so bizarre.  What's up is down....what's down is up this season.

One tradition that was kept intact was the home team saluting the fans with sticks raised after a win.  It's something the Sabres did.....and that was despite Buffalo fans cheering the Arizona Coyotes winning goal in the last home game.

With five games left, the Sabres now trail the Coyotes by two points in the race for last place.  The Sabres host the Chicago Black Hawks on Friday night.
