The idea is to put the puck IN the net.  The Buffalo Sabres again did everything but on Saturday night in a 1-0 loss to the St. Louis Blues.  If you're counting that's three straight losses in their current five-game home stand.

Goaltender Robin Lehner was spectacular making some outstanding saves to keep the Sabres in it.  It wasn't until there was 5:41 left in the game when the Sabres lost a draw in their own zone and Blues defenseman Carl Gunnarsson scored thru a maze of players to beat Lehner for the only goal of the game.

Lehner again deserved a far better fate.  If only the guys in front of him could figure out how to score a goal.  The Sabres had so many chances, but their shots went wide, high, were blocked, stopped by the goaltender and one late shot clanged off the cross bar.

With the game scoreless in late in the third period, Sam Reinhart had a huge opportunity to score on the power play with the whole net to shoot at from the side of the net only to see it stopped by the goaltender's skate.  He simply has to do a better job in a situation like that to figure out how to make a difference.  They all have to figure out how to make a difference.

It's the fourth time this season the Sabres have been shut out at home.  In three games at home the Sabres have scored only three goals, pretty pathetic.

This torturous home stand continues Tuesday night against the Anaheim Ducks.
