The New York Times reports 22 percent of the eighth graders who took the 2015 Common Core-aligned math test received a passing mark in New York. The New York Times pulled five questions from the test, that might be a lot harder for you than you think!

Here's one question from the test that might make you scratch your head:

"An above-ground swimming pool in the shape of a cylinder has a diameter of 18 feet and a height of 4.5 feet. If the pool is filled with water to 6 inches from the top of the pool, what is the volume, to the nearest cubic foot, of the water in the pool?"
