Canalside Open for the Season, with a New Attraction

While Buffalo is still waiting for the real snow to hit, no one's waiting for the ice. Mostly because it's already here; the Ice at Canalside is now open for the season. The rink opened up this past Friday (11/23) to a packed crowd.

You can find the normal "ice fare"; ice skating, curling and ice biking too. But this year, they've added something new; Ice Bumper Cars! How much fun would that be?

WIVB News 4's Kelsey Anderson was one of the first people who got to try it - check out the video.  I have to say, this looks like a lot of fun. Bumper cars on ice, for some reason, seems like so much more fun than to me. Maybe it's because it's on ice...where there's some grip, but lots of chances to slide around. Whatever it is, it's something new to check out at Canalside.

You know, the more I think about the idea, Bumper Cars on ice sounds a lot like driving to work on 33 after it snows. The only difference for me is after playing bumper cars at Canalside my insurance premiums won't go up, and I won't have to explain to the police how my car ended up in the wrong lane, headed the wrong direction and somehow balancing on two tires.
