The 2016 American Country Countdown Awards began with a tribute to country women before honoring the men in the Male Vocalist of the Year category. Carrie Underwood took the stage to present the honor to Luke Bryan, who was nearby and ready to sing "Huntin', Fishin' and Lovin' Every Day."

There's not much suspense in the building, even though viewers at home remain in the dark. In 2014, an artist received all of his or her awards at once in a performance-heavy show. The same formula may be in play in 2016 (there was no show in 2015), but Bryan was only awarded one trophy after winning three at the inaugural show.

Underwood was the night's first presenter and she took the stage in wild colors. A Rubik's cube-inspired skirt was paired with a dark orange and black top. When Bryan was finished singing an energized version of his song from Kill the Lights, she walked over to him and handed him a gold trophy. He went on to thank the Lord, his wife and especially producer Jeff Stevens.

Bryan is nominated in six other categories, including Artist of the Year. Other singers up for Male Vocalist of the Year were Blake Shelton, Jason Aldean, Thomas Rhett and Sam Hunt.

The ACCAs return after a year off. The Fox broadcast used to be known as the American Country Awards. There is no host for the ACCAs, leaving the long list of presenters to keep the show moving.
