June 27, 2012 Atari is now officially over the hill. It seems hard to believe but Atari is 40 years old today. It's amazing how far technology has come in 40 years. For those of us who follow the box office, this weekend was a case of deja vu. Once again, ‘Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted‘ headlined the top ten and once again, ‘Prometheus‘ snatched the number two spot. Both films managed to keep their momentum despite the opening of two new releases starring two of the biggest movie stars in the world. That’s good news if you’re ‘Madagascar 3′ or ‘Prometheus,’ but pretty bad news if you’re Tom Cruise or Adam Sandler.

June 8, 2012 I only live about two miles from the site but I didn't realize the new North Tonawanda Walmart was only about two months away from opening. A previous post reported Walmart is taking applications for the approximately 300 new jobs that will be available for the new store. Regardless of how much they pay, it's always good to hear that jobs are being created rather than being cut.
Buffalo brewer Iroquois closed their doors for good in the early 70's, but many of us still remember them. Iroquois beer had quite a following here in Buffalo. There are still many taverns here in the area that still have an Iroquois sign, beer tray or light on the wall

May 30, 2012 Lori Anne Madison is only 6 years old and she's the youngest contestant in the 85-year history of the Scripps National Spelling Bee. When most of the contestants are between 12 and 14 years old, Lori is an exception. She was one of the 278 spellers invited to the Washington, DC area for the competition.
May 23, 2012 Buffalo Bisons Game – The Bisons have games on Saturday and Sunday at 1:05 PM. Memorial Day is a day to remember those who have fought to preserve the American way of life, and nothing is more American than baseball.
