A City of Tonawanda teenager was awarded the New York State Senate's highest civilian honor this week. State Senator Chris Jacobs presented the Liberty Medal to Cassandra Butzer for alerting a 68-year old man that his house was on fire and likely saving his life.

Memorial Day, for many people it's a dot on the calendar that means it's the beginning of summer. For some, it's the weekend where you open the pool or bring out the barbecue for the first time. But really, it's a day to reflect and remember those who have fought for our freedom and are no longer with us.
