September 17, 2012 Last Friday, I had a chance to take a walk around NAVY Week in Downtown Buffalo along the waterfront. Besides the fact that it was gorgeous day, I am so glad I decided to wander that way and take a tour of the ships and meet some of the dedicated NAVY crews.
Every Thursday we salute more of our hometown heroes with the "Volunteer Fire Company of the WeeK'. This week's honors go to Live Hose Company #4 of North Tonawanda. member Rebecca Ruppel shares their story:

August 24, 2012 It was three years ago today, August 24, 2009, that two Buffalo firefightes were killed in the line of duty when the floor of a deli on Genesee Street fell in on them. Lieutenant Chip McCarthy and firefighter Jonathan Croom were searching for someone reported trapped inside. Turns out, there was nobody inside.

Chris Young had the chance to catch up with an old friend during a visit to Minot Air Force Base last week. The singer stopped by the base for a CD signing with some of our country’s finest airmen as part of his work with Stars for Stripes and the Minot Exchange. While there, he was reunited with Wounded Warrior Scott Lilley, whom he first met in 2009 while working with Stars for Stripes.

Fiona Cross is a three-year-old girl from Kenmore who has been diagnosed with Lymphoblastic Leukemia, a very serious blood cancer. She is a brave little fighter who needs your help with her high medical costs
