It’s time once again for our Hometown Hero, brought to you by Batavia Downs Gaming with help from our friends at WNY Heroes who help us with our nominations every week.  This Week’s Hometown Hero is from Getzville, NY.  From our United States Air Force, it’s Retired Staff Sergeant Chad Larson!

Chad joined the Air Force in 1993 as a firefighter. He served just over 9 years, including deployments to Afghanistan after 9/11 and assignments in Africa, Ecuador, Kuwait, Belgium, and more. He remained with the department of defense as a firefighter, and is now an Assistant Fire Chief at Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station. He gave up his dream to remain in Colorado to come back to Buffalo with his wife Aimee after she completed her service in the Air Force so she could go to school. She writes that he continues to be a hero for our country, for the fire service, and for his friends. Most importantly, he is a selfless hero to their kids and his wife. Those who know him know they can always count on him to give whatever he can professionally and personally.

So this week, as we remember those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice on Memorial Day Weekend we are also proud to call Airforce Retired Staff Sereant Chad Larson our Hometown Hero of the week! .
