Two more races left before the start of the Chase for the Sprint Cup championship and Denny Hamlin has pulled into a tie with defending champion Tony Stewart, Brad Keselowski and Jimmie Johnson each with 3 wins this season after Saturday night’s race at Bristol. Hamlin took the lead with a pass of Carl Edwards with 39 laps to go and held off the rest of the field the rest of the way for his first career victory at Bristol.

There’s two more races left and then the standings will be reset based on wins this season and right now there would be a four-way tie at the top of the standings, but Hamlin says he’s not done winning yet.

Johnson finished second followed by Jeff Gordon, Brian Vickers and Marcos Ambrose.

Johnson clinched a playoff spot as did Greg Biffle and Dale Earnhardt, Jr.

There was a helmet throwing incident during the race – Stewart showing what he thought of Matt Kenseth’s driving by throwing his helmet at his front grill after theycollided sending both cars off for repairs.

And Danica Patrick showed her frustration after a crash with Regan Smith. Patrick was running 19th and on the lead lap at the time. Fans wanted her to throw her helmet at Smith’s car but she just waved her finger at him.

The drivers were kind of split on the new racing surface. Some of them hated it….others including Jeff Gordon loved it. The intent was to return the track to the old style bump and grinding type racing it had always been known for and they accomplished that.

It’s off to Atlanta next week.
