Well that didn't take long. Reboots are big right!  Checker's Bar at 1854 Hertel Avenue is re-opening as JP's Checkers.  The original Checkers Closed in February of this year and has been undergoing aggressive renovations since the doors closed.  A story in the Buffalo News shared the news from new owner Jamison Phillips.  Fixtures have been replaced, new coolers, and grill are installed and 16 draft lines expected for the new JP's Checkers.

"By the time we're done, people won't recognize the place," Phillips said. "They'll be pleasantly surprised by it."

I was a semi-regular at the original Checkers which operated for 50 years at the Hertel location, so I'm looking forward to see the changes and visit the new place when it opens. Beer, burgers and dogs will be the fabric of the new JP's Checkers.  Mr. Phillips is awaiting his NYS Liquor License at this time and speculates a mid-May opening.
