Appearing on NBC's "Today" show celebrity chef Paula Deen revealed she has type 2 diabetes.  She says she's become a partner with a healthcare company to produce a strategy for a program of lighter cooking and to help patients manage the disease.

Her new program, called "Diabetes in a New Light," offers cooking tips and information for people dealing with the disease.  The 65-year old Dean says diabetes can be caused by factors such as diet, genetics, stress and age.  But she says people need to take responsibility for their own health.

Dean is famous for recipes that call for lots of butter, sugar and fat.  She says those types of foods are not meant to be eaten every day.    She was diagnosed with diabetes about three years ago.
